RiCo Tours (Ritmos de Colombia) introduced me to an authentic Colombia, connecting me with locals and planning activities that not only covered the classic spots of the city, but also catered to my personal interests. Along with popular trips to artsy hip-hop neighborhood like Comuna 13 and the flower farms of Santa Elena, RiCo tours specializes in salsa and tango experiences. A fun stop was the Salsa Museum, a local spot where salsalovers can listen to their favorite classic tunes and view the many collector album covers while chatting with the owner or other patrons. Another highlight of my trip were the daily Argentine tango lessons that RiCo Tours arranged with an accomplished dancer and teacher, Giovanni, who studied with the best milongueros in Buenos Aires. His attention to form and musicality gave me great techniques to improve my tango. At every stop, RiCo tours supplied well-researched tidbits of information to make the experience even more meaningful. There were alway practical suggestions for salsa dancing, restaurants and shopping tips.
